Any good exercises to build a strong lower back?

    I was in the middle of doing squats last night when I felt my lower back go. The pain was pretty bad so I had to stop there.

    I know my technique is probably to blame here.

    Are there any exercises that I can use to make my lower back stronger?

    Any form of deadlift will work your lower back. Rack pulls are also another good exercise for the lower back along with hyper extensions.

    Also, make sure your abdominal muscles are strong enough. Try the ab roller, weighted hanging leg-hip raises, etc., etc.

    Fixing your form on squats will probably do more than strengthening the back.

    SquatRx video series on youtube is excellent.
